UMASS Boston to host 2009 NEWVA Senior Classic

UMASS Boston has agreed to host the 2009 NEWVA Senior Classic and annual coaches meeting. The NEWVA Senior Classic Committee and the UMASS staff look forward to providing a great event once again in 2009. The date for the event is Sunday, November 15th with the skills competition and coaches meeting both beginning at 10:30 AM and the match following at 1 PM. Be sure to mark your calendars!

Teams to Keep an Eye on (as of 9/17/09)

Coast Guard and Plymouth State are undefeated. UMASS Boston is also undefeated within the New England region. Tufts (MIT Invitational Champions) lone loss on the season came at the hands of UMASS Boston, a five-setter, that was Tufts' first match of the season. Tufts and UMASS Boston rematch on Tuesday 9/29/09 at Tufts. Wesleyan appears much better than their record (eight of nine matches in-region have been against teams in the top 15) and finished fourth at the MIT Invitational. Middlebury is off to a strong start and is playing more New England teams after a few weeks of isolation in northern Vermont (and venturing to New York).
